How Can I Portray Short-Term Contract Jobs Positively?

by Karmela
(Ohio)

I've worked contract jobs since 2000 to current, so all of my jobs have been short-term.Employers see this on my resume and assume I won't stay in one place for a long time. How can I convey this on the cover letter so it is not thrown away?

Hi Karmela... You might think about listing the period in which you did contract work as a period of self-employment. Just explain in the cover letter that you took on a number of sequential projects during this period. Spin it positively to show your flexibility, motivation and ability to accomplish goals.

Best,
Kathi
