About Kathi MacNaughton Your So-Called "Resume Queen"
Hi there! Thanks for stopping by. Are you wondering if you can trust the information on this site? I mean, how can you be sure anything you read here is on the mark, right?
Well, let me reassure you... I'm not just some hack, trying to make a buck on the Internet by posting links to various resume vendors. I am a seasoned business manager who has years of "in the trenches" experience with interviewing and hiring applicants for all types of jobs.
But What's Up with This "The Resume Queen" Stuff?
Well... glad you asked! You see... my name is Kathi MacNaughton, and I have been called "The Resume Queen" more than once. Why? Well, it's like this...
I am a registered nurse by education and background. And I spent quite a few years in the hospital and home care setting taking care of patients. But I also spent 17 years in health care management. One of my main duties for many years was recruitment of both professional and support staff. During that time, I reviewed literally thousands of resumes and cover letters and interviewed several hundreds of hopeful applicants.
And believe me, I could tell you some stories...
But this is not the time nor place for those stories. Suffice it to say, I have the knowledge and skills necessary to advise you on how to prepare the very best resume that will help you get the jobs you want.
My Life After Health Care
After many years in health care and administration, I burned out, so I changed careers and became a writer. I'd always loved to write and I'd had to do a lot of writing as part of my management jobs. So, I parlayed that experience and a love of computers into a technical writing and support job for a company that made clinical charting software.
From there I moved on to writing consumer health educational materials for various pharmaceutical companies, as well as some freelance clients.
Today, I make my living as a freelance entrepreneur, writing, and consulting with other people who want to build a web-based home business.
Although I am no longer working in recruitment, I have kept up my body of knowledge and expertise regarding resumes, cover letters, and interviewing techniques, partly so that I could assist several members of my family who are either changing careers or entering the professional workforce for the first time. And that's why they call me "The Resume Queen!"
I'm Here to Serve...
