What if my job was outsourced but I still work there?

by Alan
(St. Clair Shores, MI)

My job was outsourced to a third party company, however I still perform the same job duties at the same facility. The only difference is that my paycheck & benefits come from another company. Would the third party company be listed as a separate employer? I don't want to look like a job hopper.

Answer: Hi Alan... I think I'd list them as 2 different employers, because they are, but list them together, with only one job title and list of achievements/responsibilities beneath. Then, explain in your cover letter, just what you did here.

This seems to be a new trend, and I'm sure many employers would be familiar with this practice, so you'll probably be OK. Good luck with the job hunt!
