What format should a resume be in if not Word?

by Anonymous
(Somewhere)

I have my resume in Word, but that's not what they want they want. They want it in another form and I don't know how to do that.

ANSWER: I'm sorry, but you're going to have to be more specific. What other form are they asking for the resume in? If you can tell me that, I can try to help you. For instance, a lot of employers ask for resumes in plain text format, so that they can scan them. Word adds formatting that can interfere with scanning. Plain text can be done in Word, but a better way is to cut and paste your resume into a text editor like Notepad (which every Windows machine has, or look for the equivalent if you're a MAC user).

If a PDF is what they're looking for, there are many programs today that can convert from Word format to PDF for free. Try Googling "free PDF converter" to see what comes up.
