Should I include my VP of Finance for the student body as a work experience?

by Anonymous

I am debating whether if it is okay that I put being Vice President of Finance for the student body as part of my work experience. I get paid a semester and it requires a lot of commitment, almost like a job, since I am solo responsible and held accountable to the student body's money which is around $70,000.

So if I include it on my resume, it would say that I had 3 years of financial experience on or Am I really overselling myself and my experience?

Answer: Since it is a paid position, I would include it, especially since the position carries considerable financial authority and autonomy. I would just make the specifics of the position very clear in your resume. You could also go into more detail on your cover letter. But definitely you want to give yourself credit for such great experience!
