Do I Include Education on My Resume If I Never Graduated High School?

by Anonymous
(Somewhere)

If a person does not have a high school diploma, does he/she have to list the high school on the resume?

ANSWER: Well... I think you have to include it, but I'm not entirely sure what you'd say. I guess I'd list the high school and indicate what grade you completed. For instance, "Capital High School, completed 11th grade".

If you've received any on-the-job training or certifications since, list those as well.

To your success,
Kathi

Should one include High School Diploma on a resume?

by Shellie
(New York)

I am assisting a friend with her resume. She only has a high school diploma. No college credits. Should we include her high school diploma on the resume or leave it off. All of the resume samples online show some type of Bachelor's Degree. Thanks

ANSWER: Hi Shellie... It's perfectly OK to have a skills-based resume that emphasizes education even for someone who has only completed high school to this point. Here's an example on this site that is for a high school graduate. As you'll see by the example, you SHOULD mention the high school diploma, definitely.

To your success,
Kathi

Do I List High School Diploma When I Have Masters?

by Ashley Nelson
(Solon Springs, WI)

I am a recent college graduate with my masters degree. In the education section, is it still important to list high school diploma and the school I attended or should i just list the highest education obtained?

ANSWER: Once you have a couple of college degrees under your belt, it's probably not necessary to list your high school on the resume, though there's no harm in doing so either. But at this point in your career, what employers will be most interested in is your college education. So, be sure to emphasize both your undergraduate course of study and of course your masters degree.

Good luck,
Kathi

What do I put for the degree section on a resume if I'm still in High School?

by Hyde
(Richmond, Virginia, USA)

I'm going to the 12th grade and I haven't graduated yet, what do I put in the degree section?

ANSWER: You don't really need to list a degree. If you had a major in high school or were college prep, you can say that. Otherwise, just indicate the date for graduation.
