What Is the Career Outlook for Dietitians?

I am interested in pursuing a career as a dietitian, but I'm wondering what the career outlook is these days...

ANSWER: Terria... This looks to be a good career to be involved in for the immediate future (at least 10 years out). Our elderly population is growing, as is many chronic illnesses that have nutritional overtones, such as diabetes. And there's an increasing focus on disease management too. Here's what one site had to say:
"Employment of dietitians is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through 2014 as a result of increasing emphasis on disease prevention through improved dietary habits."

Another site says, "Good job opportunities are expected, especially for dietitians with specialized training, an advanced degree, or certifications beyond the particular State’s minimum requirement."

Jobs are expected to increase around 9% between 2006 and 2016. Sounds promising to me!
