When my previous employer closed due to a "hostile" purchase, the administrator, supervisor and medical director provided personal letters of reference in individual packets. As I prepare resumes to send, is it acceptable to copy these and include them in the packet?
ANSWER: Pam, the answer to your question about whether it is appropriate to include letters of reference with a resume is yes. I'd also mention their inclusion in your cover letter.
In addition, I'd bring them with you to any interviews, just in case the originals go missing.
Good luck!

Should my letters of reference be in sealed envelopes, or opened, and included with the cover letter and application?
ANSWER: Tanner... I don't think there's one right answer to this. If your references prefer to go the sealed envelope route (so they can feel free to be brutally honest), then you should respect that. However, since you choose who you want to write letters, I'd presume you expect to get positive letters from them. In that case, they often give it to you to read. It would be OK in those instances not to put them in sealed envelopes. You might also want to ask the employer how they prefer to get them...
