I have just completed grade 10 and just started my summer holidays last week. Normally it says "currently enrolled in grade 10," but what do I put now that I graduated? Should I put "entering grade 11 in septeber 2009"? or is that to unprofessional? Please let me know ASAP because I'm trying to apply for a job.
Thank you for your time and concern, Katie

I have an associates degree. I am seeking a bachelor's degree but because I have some lower level courses that did not transfer to the four year institution I wish to attend I have opted to go to the community college to complete them. I will have a dual enrollment soon in both institutions.
Right now I attend the community college for which I do not plan to get a degree but instead transfer the credits received to the four year institution where I plan to get my bachelors. How should I list that I am perusing a bachelor's degree while attending a community college?
ANSWER: Hi Sandra, I would just list both institutions under education. In the baccalaureate listing, you can say what degree is pending and when. In the community college listing, just say something like, "isolated coursework" or alternatively list the actual courses taken there.
You could also choose to explain the dual enrollment in your cover letter.

Kathi

I'm getting ready to do my first resume and I'm not sure where to put my education information on it. Can you help?
ANSWER: It depends. If you are a new college grad or a career changer, you may want to put your Education section first, because it is probably the most relevant information on the resume, since you lack experience in your new field. See a sample here of a student resume.
But, if you've been working for a while, then you want to put your Work Experience up front and then list Education after it. Check out the resume examples section of the site for more examples.

Hi,
I graduated HS in 1996. I never went to college. I did go to school an accredited school for Flight Training (which has nothing to do with what job I am applying for now). I guess my question is, what would I put in this section in my resume.
Thanks
ANSWER: I would list both your high school education and your flight training on the resume. Even if the flight training is not related to what you want to do now, it's still valuable life experience that you should get credit for. You can also think about tranferable skills you may have gained from that schooling that could be valuable in future jobs, such as leadership, ability to think on your feet, problem solving, etc.
To your success,
Kathi

I have worked for years in Management and Sales, but did not complete my college education. I would like to showcase my experience and accomplishments first out of fear that a lack of formal education will immediately eliminate me from competition.
ANSWER: No, Debra... You definitely don't have to list Education first. In fact, the only people who should list it first are new grads and/or career changers who want to emphasize recent education/training over their (lack of) experience.
But it's different for someone like you, who has solid experience in the field. You are right on track when you say you want to emphasize recent accomplishments... trust your instincts! :)
To your success,
Kathi
