How to Explain a Long Gap in Employment History?

by Jodi
(Gatlinburg, TN)

My husband died in 2001. At that time I quit my job, stayed home with my children and collected widow's social security. One child is almost 20 and out on her own, and my youngest is almost 17. I am not needed at home full time anymore and am ready to hit the work force again. How do I explain this gap to future employers?
