How do I send my cover letter?

by Johana
(Santa Ana, CA)

I'm responding to a job post online. Do I send my cover letter as attachment of my email, or in the body of my email?

ANSWER: You can do it either way. Personally, I prefer to send the resume and cover letter as attachments, because that allows you to format them nicely for easier reading. But not all recruiters like to get attachments, because of their worry about viruses in attachments. If they DO allow attachments, then be sure to mention the cover letter in the body of your email.

So, if you do not use attachments, then make your cover letter the actual email message. And then follow it with the resume. You want them to read your cover letter first!

Good luck with your job hunt...
