Same Boat
by: Wendy

I am in the same boat. I was an Attorney that stayed home for 8 years for with children. I am going to mention the volunteer work I have done. I also am trying to switch my career to HR so I have more time with the kids. This is a big hurdle. I wish you luck!

Hopefully, Honesty Works
by: Kathi

Good for you for putting your family first! Until recently, not too many men were willing to do that. However, I do think you'll find your situation is not as unusual as it used to be.

Basically, you're facing the same challenge any stay-at-home mom has faced in past generations, once she was ready to return to work... proving your current worth.

Use your resume and cover letter to show off your past accomplishments, but also include those volunteer activities you've been doing during the last 7 years. The right employer will recognize the value of your full set of skills and experience.

Good luck,
Kathi
