Be Honest & Open About Employment Gaps

The best place to deal with an employment gap is on the cover letter. Simply explain honestly what you were doing during the period that you were not working. If you gained any life lessons or skills during that time, be sure to mention that too.

I'd be surprised if you were penalized for this type of employment gap. I think most prospective employers would understand.
