The Best Web Hosts Offer More Than Just Plain Web Hosting

They also offer services like domain registration, website design, and even help with marketing your website...

So how do you find the best web hosts? It's easy... just keep reading!

Of course, you can always just Google "cheap web hosting" to find a number of companies that offer low cost or free website hosting.

But how do you know if they're any good? After all, you're looking for more than just a glorified domain registrar. You want to make sure that your resume will always be visible to prospective employers and/or that there is enough bandwidth available for you to post your portfolio of work.

I want to be sure you know about the best web hosts for posting online resumes, so I thought I'd tell you what I've learned during my years on the Web.

Criteria for Choosing a Website Hosting Provider

Here are some important things to look for when choosing a web host:

  • Price—Ideally, they'll host a 1 to 5 page website for no more than $5 a month.

  • Reputation—There are a lot of fly by night web hosting providers out there in cyberspace. Choose one that is recommended to you by someone you trust or at the very least, that can offer lots of testimonials.

  • Customer Service—Make sure support is part of the deal. Email support is good, but available telephone support, should you need it, is even better.

  • Flexibility—Right now, you might only be looking to post your resume, but needs change over time. The best web hosts offer easy upgrades for when you're ready to take your website to the next level.

Recommended Web Hosts

GoDaddy
For best of breed, you can't beat GoDaddy. They're easy to use, offer many different levels of service, and their Website Tonight product makes it easy to get your website launched. You'll find they're one of the best web hosts around.

Your Internet Service Provider
Companies (ISPs) that provide Internet services, such as Comcast or AOL, often offer a small amount of webspace to their subscribers. If all you're posting is your resume, this could be sufficient for your needs.

ThinkHost
This is a full service web hosting service that I used for many years. I can't recommend them enough. They meet all of the criteria mentioned above!

Of course, you can probably find many other options by doing that Google search. But those are my best web host recommendations.

SBI: The King of Best Web Hosts

I've mostly been talking about choosing a web host for a very small 1 to 5 page website. And for many of my site visitors, that will be more than sufficient.

But I would be doing you a disservice if I failed to tell you about another option, and that option is Site Build It . Site Build It (SBI) is an all-in-one package for someone who's serious about building a business on the Web. SBI enables you—even if you're a rank beginner—to build a content-rich site, to host it, to bring traffic to it, to market it, and to earn money from it.

You'll pay an annual fee and get all of these services. It's easy web interface is designed for beginners, but it works well for more advanced users too. With SBI, you get absolutely everything you need... from domain registration to website hosting to traffic stats, help with traffic & monetization, social networking, even a nifty newsletter creator! This is THE best value on the Web today.

How do I know all of this? I built this site with SBI! (And several others as well)
